London, Feb. 19.  A bill is depending in the House of
Commons, for prohibiting the wearing of gold and silver
lace.  On the motion for this bill, the following lines were
pudlished.
  High taxes ran' the Britons loud complain'd
  'Twas mov'd that luxury should be restrain'd.
  To lace our breeches was a mortal sin.
  And wear all gold without, and none within.
